A Crooked Kind of Perfect, Linda Urban

Ten-year-old Zoe Elias, who longs to play the piano but must resign herself to learning the organ, instead, finds that her musicanship has a positive impact on her workaholic mother, her jittery father, and her school social life.

Added 9/21/09 - After reading a comment about socks, I was thinking maybe someone might want to try to knit some socks...I knitted a pair one time, and one time only because one turned out so much bigger than the other one, and I couldn't wear them. Here is a pattern for a pair and it doesn't look too difficult! (Payton, we could never do the toes! Or at least I couldn't!)

When I was younger I remember thinking, "Oh, if only I had this life would be perfect." Even though we all know there isn't one thing that could make life perfect I think we all think this. I wonder why....

Can you be more specific? What sounds great about the book?

One of the things I loved about this book was that the girl really really wanted to play the piano - she thought that would make her life perfect. Instead, she got an organ. It wasn't a piano, but she made the best of it. I loved that about her.

I loved the toe socks on the front (they look exactly like mine) and how she incorperated them into the book.
