Julia's Kitchen, Brenda A. Ferber

When her mother and younger sister are killed in a house fire, eleven-year old Cara struggles to find a way to deal with her emotions and to reach out to her grieving father.

I wonder if the author's website has any recipes of the baked goods that are baked in the story??!

Now that fall is here and the apples are ready Mrs. Cretzmeyer has been busy making her famous apple crisp. Do you have a favorite fall recipe?

I have read this book, too, Claire. It was sad, and I'm not giving anything away because it talks about it on the cover, but the girl's mom dies in the story. And her little sister. So it's just her and her dad. Do you ever bake things? This book made me want to make some cookies. Or a cake. Thanks for posting!
